Elora Gorge - Elora, Ontario
Article by Maya GavricIf you are in Southwestern Ontario (Kitchener-Waterloo area, about an hour and half from Toronto), try to visit Elora Gorge Conservation Area in Elora. Bring your camera and enjoy an easy scenic walk along riverside trails with amazing views.
The Elora Gorge is one of the most beautiful and spectacular natural areas in the Grand River valley. The Grand River rushes through the gorge, which has 22-metre (72 feet) high clifs. Well maintained riverside trails (with safety barriers) and scenic overlooks provide hikers with stunning views. Far below, kayakers and tubers make their way through the rapids.
Exercise caution and respect safety warning signs posted throughout the park. Do not climb over safety fences or barriers and stay away from the edge of the gorge. If you are interested in climbing the banks of the river, use stairs with railings.
Elora Gorge also ofers serviced and unserviced campsites, as well as larger sites for organized groups.
